Not entirely! It’s been pretty quiet here on the blog although a lot has been happening in the background. Soon after the roof went on, the site has been a hive of activity daily:
June 1st – Plumbing work started, fantastic to see everything taking shape even its just some pipes! Our first onsite issue was raised at this point with shower plumbing and shower niche being on the same wall in the downstairs bathroom. Our Construction supervisor suggested moving shower plumbing to other wall.
June 7th – all cooling and heating ducting rough ins completed.
This Tuesday (13th June) all scaffolding had been brought down and first floor windows installed. House wrapped by afternoon and electricians onsite and by that afternoon most of the electrical rough ins were complete. About two weeks ago, while going through the electrical plan, I’d realised some changes requested post colour selection in September and the again at contract were still not on the final drawings. Our CS called to have that sorted onsite as the our BC was still getting the building variation sorted. Met CS for the first time in person and I was again reminded how less stressful this process becomes when you have the right people on your team. We got the electrical sorted quickly as they were minor changes and changed the 3 pendant lights over kitchen island to 2 with the engineered beam going partially over the island, 3 pendants were too close to each other.
Our framing inspection with Darbecca had brought up some issues that needed to be rectified and we are still waiting for these to be completed. The framers have remedied their bit and we are now waiting for the concretors to finish 2 frame overhang in the garage. As we have not yet released payment for this stage, our CS is trying to do his best to get to all sorted now. We discussed upcoming dates and although everything seems to be going quite fast, we are still only sitting as 3 days ahead of schedule. PD had set a settlement date of early December but CS indicated we will be well ahead of that!! Hooray!
Hebel also delivered!
Wednesday morning, contractors were onsite installing brackets for Hebel. It was after a lot of research that we went along with Hebel and a major factor was that hubby and I both love the rendered look. Can’t wait to drive up and see how the Hebel looks when we visit next!
