Every home build story you share with random strangers has these two syllables. Every. Single. One.
A year ago when we started looking at schools for the kids near our future home, we were inundated with advice and one that now stands out was that I was being overly optimistic with our build timeline! Land settlement was delayed almost 3 months. Site start delayed another 5 months. Our slab pour delayed another 5 days due to weather. Now we have had another day delay due to our site supervisor having been asleep by the time Darbecca’s inspection report reached his inbox last night.
I understand they work till 5PM but I was expecting a level of understanding that he brought forward our pour by two days which meant inspection time was rebooked for a time that he gave. The concreters didn’t finish on time hence our building consultant hung about till they were about 90% finished. Yes the report was sent late but it was sent about 30mins after he texted rudely asking for it. An email from our site supervisor this morning stated that he had cancelled the pour for today. I’m absolutely fine with that except its been pouring today. How that affects us when we have the slab pour and the site looks like a swimming pool with waffle pods and steel floating through, I have no clue!
An email late this afternoon confirmed we will be pouring tomorrow and all issues have been rectified. I’m yet to receive photos to support that. Being in a not-so-spectacular mood today due to the cancellation and dealing with three very very disappointed kids I replied with the following pics:
Visited site twice today. 7:45AM and the 5:30PM. Deserted on both occasions and the gates left open on both sides. Now I may be being overly precious but thats negligence in my opinion. 🙂
On the bright side, I’m very much looking forward to tomorrow. I have three very excited (Round 2) kids with their gold coins wanting to visit before school so they can drop their coins into wet concrete for good luck.
***Apologies for the foul mood of this post!
